Dr. Doug's Home Sports Drink Recipe

Ingredients

30 ounces of water
10 ounces of fruit juice
3 level tablespoons of sugar
¼ rounded teaspoon of salt

Shake or blend until sugar and salt are not visible on the bottom.


Approximate Nutritional Values

  • 10 ounces of juice provides approximately 36-41 grams of carbohydrate, equating to approximately 145-165 calories, depending on the type of juice used
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar provides 36 grams of carbohydrates, approximately 139 calories1
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt provides approximately 500 milligrams of sodium

Makes 5 eight ounce servings of an approximate 6% carbohydrate solution with two types of sweetener, providing 56-61 calories and 100 mg of sodium per serving. The amount of potassium will vary depending on the type of juice used.
